Lauren Baldarelli (PhD, M.S, B.S) is an Agricultural Research Scientist at HowGood, where she models agricultural practices to estimate greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts like water, analyzes and synthesizes life cycle assessments, leads our biodiversity research, contributes to researching and designing sustainability metrics, and assists with customer work and answering customer questions on scientific topics.Lauren brings a unique knowledge of soil health and sustainability from her experience as a Post Doctoral Scholar at the Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration. While at the Lal Carbon Center she worked with farmers in Ohio to better understand how farming practices affect soil carbon dynamics. She has an extensive background in microbiology and biogeochemistry from her years working in academia that have continued to support her interest in soil microbial communities and their connectedness to climate mitigation and food security. She also brings years of experience in environmental consulting and the start-up space.Lauren has had a longstanding interest in living an eco-friendly lifestyle including a veggie-focused diet, bike commuting, and eating local. She holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Kent State University, and a M.S and B.S from John Carroll University.
